This page has information and instructions for the Spring Recreational League. Please see the Spring Select page for information about that program.
Registration for the Spring Season will open December 1st. Divisions U5 - U14 will be offered. Division placement for the Spring season is the same as the preceding Fall (see chart below for date cutoffs.) The season will run from Mar. 7th - May 16th.
All divisions will have a Sunnyvale coach and practice in Sunnyvale. The U5-U8 Divisions will play in Sunnyvale. However due to the smaller number of teams in the Spring, the U10-U14 divisions will likely be playing teams from other regions, and have games in surrounding cities.
For divisions U6 and up the registration cost is $100, and includes:
The U5 division is a different format and includes a ball rather than a uniform. The registration fee for U5 is $90.
Please note the fee does not include coaches, referees, team managers, field preparation, etc. - these are all provided by volunteers!
Should a player need to withdraw from the Spring Season, the refund offered will depend on when the request is received, as follows:
All requests for refunds must be submitted in writing (email) directly to the treasurer or registrar
Sunnyvale AYSO has updated the buddy request policy. We understand children like to play with their friends, but Balanced Teams is one of our core philosophies, and buddy requests can not interfere with that. The new policy is as follows:
Buddy requests can almost always be accommodated in the lower divisions (up to U8). However as the players get older, skill levels increase and the number of teams decreases, so sometimes we will not be able to honor a request. Also, every player gets only one request, no additional buddy placements will be made for medical reasons. If your child has special needs please note it in the medical section of their registration.
In order to make a buddy request, please enter the buddy's name (first and last) in the sibling box of the registration form, or email the registrar with your request.
Players are generally assigned to a division based on their age. Children may play in a higher division than is usual for their age, but never lower. If you would like to request that your child play up please notify the registrar when you submit your registration.
Guidelines for placement are as follows:
|Division||Typical Age||Typical Grades||Birthdate Range|
|U05||4||PreK||08/01/09 - 07/31/11|
|U06||5||K||08/01/08 - 07/31/09|
|U08||6-7||2||08/01/06 - 07/31/08|
|U10||8-9||3-4||08/01/04 - 07/31/06|
|U12||10-11||5-6||08/01/02 - 07/31/04|
|U14||12-13||7-8||08/01/00 - 07/31/02|
Since AYSO is an all volunteer organization, it is imperative that every family volunteers in some capacity. It takes between 400-500 volunteers to run our region each year. We therefore give priority to those who volunteer.
If we are short on coaches we are forced to put players on the waiting list. Children are given priority to be placed on teams by the following criteria:
Sunnyvale AYSO provides training for coaches, referees, and board members at no cost to the volunteer (except your time!) This training is among the best available from any youth sports organization and AYSO's coach training is accredited by the NCACE. Please see the Volunteers page for details on how to register as a volunteer, or contact the Regional Commissioner about regional needs.
Your child will not be placed on a team until their registration is completed. To complete the registration the following items must be submitted to the registrar:
